HHR’s Maternal Immunization Study team participated in the 2nd Annual Maternal Immunization Network in Africa and Asia (MIRINA) meeting, which was held from February 24th to 28th, 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa. This year’s theme, “Country-led pathways to maternal vaccine readiness: preparing for new vaccines,” focused on co-creating an evidence-driven national maternal immunization demand strategy. The event brought together MIRINA Consortium members from Ethiopia, Pakistan, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Bangladesh, Nigeria, and Burkina Faso, along with representatives from their respective Ministries of Health.
Representing Ethiopia, seven researchers from HHR, along with three esteemed representatives from the Federal Ministry of Health—Dr. Marriamawit Asfaw, the Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health Lead Executive Officer; Zemzem Mohammed, the Maternal Health Desk Lead; and Yeshiwork Eshetu from the Immunization Desk—actively participated in the meeting.
