Project Summary
The main objective of Mortality from Bacterial Infections Resistant to Antibiotics (MBIRA) was to quantify the association between antimicrobial resistance (AMR) status and clinical outcomes (mortality and length of hospital Stay) for inpatients with proven Gram-negative bacteremia (all Enterobacteria except Salmonella species) by collecting data over a 12-month period in 2020-21 in Hiwot Fana Specialized University Hospital (HFSUH), located in Harar, Eastern Ethiopia. HFSUH was one site within a multicenter study conducted across 10 hospitals in different sub-Saharan African countries.
