The health centers where CHAMPS operates received donations of resuscitation equipment.

The Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) program has donated resuscitation materials to 18 health centers in Harar, Haramaya, and Kersa. The donation is part of CHAMPS’ efforts to reduce the number of stillbirths and deaths of newborns.
CHAMPS research has found that birth asphyxia is a leading cause of stillbirth. Birth asphyxia occurs when a newborn does not receive enough oxygen during delivery. This can happen for a number of reasons, such as a difficult delivery or a premature birth.
