Hararghe Health Research(HHR)

Envisioned as a long-term program supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, HHR seeks to identify definitive causes of stillbirths and child deaths through community engagement, mortality surveillance, diagnostic and laboratory innovation, and rapid, open access to data. HHR transforms data into action, working with partners to use findings to inform evidence-based solutions to save lives.

Findings

CHAMPS is the mega project in HHR and following the research findings many other studies have been emerging. CHAMPS Enrolling in 7 countries, 2 more preparing to launch and 4000+ deaths through DeCoDe process.

What we do with our data?

What are we doing with the data now that we have them all? At the municipal, governmental, and international levels, we have been disseminating our findings.

Local: The deceased’s family was the first to learn the reason of death and provided case-specific health information. DeCoDe determined the cause of death in order to raise awareness. We have been utilizing resources like community gatherings, theater for development, and mass health education programs.

National: Our findings have been shared with relevant parties, including the Ministry of Health, local NGOs, media, health centers, and hospitals.

International: The information has been presented in conferences around the world.
